CALCUTTA, Thursday. Banks throughout India again remained closed to-day. It is expected that they will re-open to-morrow. The Government of India has issued a statement to the effect that no anxiety should he felt regarding the internal financial situation, declaring that there is anrple money to meet all demands, and that there is j no cause wliatever for panic. A declaration from London that the , rupee has remained linked with the pound had a reassuring effect. Sir George Schuster, Indian Minister of j Finance, deelared in the Legislative j Assembly that the Government would stand behind the banks in the event | of a run to-morrow.
