BUOYANT TONE

AUSTRALIAN STOCK MARKETS Rec. Sept. 24, 8.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Thursday. There was brisk trade on the Stock Exchange, both here and at Melbourne. Gains were registered in practically all sectlons. The general tone is more buoyant than it has been for a year. The turnover is of large dimensions and great strength is displayed by Broken Hill Stocks and to a lesser degree by the chief industrials and banks, which are firm. Business in basic commodities has been somewhat upset, owing to uncertainty in the international exchange position. Bulk wheat is much firmer.
