They included Jugo, whose breathing was assisted by a silver tube in his throat, through which he made a loud whistling noise when running. Prospice, who has one eye can only race on courses which are right-hand-ed. Ballyscanlon is celebrated for the fact that he will only run when his jockey makes a noise like the beating of a tin can. His rider has to earry a speciai rattle instead of a whip, to which Ballyscanlon responds with sufficient speed to win a Derby. He actually won to-day's race by half a length. Jugo, whistling like a shunting engine, was ( third.
