UNITED STATES COURT RULES CONFESSIONAL SECRETS INVIOLATE. MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 2. The right of a clergyman to refuse to divulge information given him in eonfidence has been upheld by the Minnesota State Supreme Court. The Iligh Court reversed the conviction of the Rev. Emil Swenson, a Lutheran pastor of Minneapolis, on a charge of contempt of court, says Reuter. Mr. Swenson was found guilty for declining to divulge a conversation with a parishioner concerning a divorce case. Backed by the Minneapolis Ministers' Federation, he appealed to the S|ate Supreme Court, which has ruied that all communications or confessions made to a clergyman in his professional capacity are privileged and need not be revealed in court.
