AUSTRALIAN TOUR WAIKATO-KING COUNTRY TEAM WELL BEATEN LAST MATCH OF TOUR Ihe touring Australian team concluded its New Zealand tour to-day, when it defeated a combined Wai-kato-King" Country fifteen by 30 to 10. • The teams were: Australia: A. W. Ross, D. L. Cowper, P. Clarlc, G. H. Towers, W. Hemingway; H. Primrgse ; G. Bennett; M. R. Blair, E. Bonis, E. Love, M. White, B. Judd, J. Clark, T. Perrin, O. Bridle. Waikato-King Country: S. Thomas, L. Hook, J. R. Fitz-Gerald, W. H. Carison; A. V. Gilling, P. Quin; P. Riley, C. |Cameron, J. Leeson, R. W. Thomas, A. Cameron, J. Reynolds, L. Me-edith, H. Ensor, F. Peterson. The home side was putting a lot of ;*ting into their play, but the visiting backs were always on the move and could not be penned up. Play moved quickly between the goals and the 'e were bright open movements on both sides. The Australian's next try carne from thp line-out when P. Cla -k and Primrose handled, but the latter was well tackled after a cutin which gained ground. Cowper ma.le a strong run down the line but wai. well tackled by S. Thomas. Bridle and P. Clark followed up well, however, and gaining possession, the latter scored. Ross missed the kick, and half time found the scores 13-7 in favour of the visitors. Second Spell There was a period of loose open play at the opening of the second hali'. Play livened up however when Primrose cleverly intercepted a 'pass from Carison, and Towers and P. Cla. k participated in a fast rush up field. Clark was caught in possession but Perrin snapped up the trickling bail and dived over for a try. Ross converted. Australia 18, Combined 7. Points Pile Up. From mid-field the visitoi-s' backs ope ied out in a fast rush, and Ross found touch in the corner with a ■ splendid kick. From the line-out Bennett, Primrose, and P. Clark participated in a passing rush, Clark going over for a try in the corner. Ross misi ed the kick. Australia 21, Combined 7. The home side was defending hard but Carison took play back with a good run which gained eonsiderable grornd. Hook, Fitz-Gerald, Carison and H. Thomas showed up in a bright movement which was only checked by eound tackling five yards from the line. The Combined forwards however maintainecl the pressure and the visitors were penalised in their own tweuty-five. Carison put over a great kick. Australia 21, Combined 10. Australians Go Well Tne Australian backs showed up well in the concluding stages of the game. After a series of attacks, bad tackling in the ruck allowed Bennett to break through and he gave a transfer to M. White who scored without opposition. Ross missed the kick. Australia 24, Combined 10. In the concluding minutes of the game, the Australians staged vigorous attacks which saw Towers break through to the Combined 25. He gave a transfer to Blair who scored an easy try. Ross was unsuecessful with the kick. Australia 27, Combined 10. Australia had not finished yet, however, and Hemingway concluded the tour with a great solo try in the corner. Ross missed the kick, and the game ended 30-10 in favour of the visitors.
