CALCUTTA, Tuesday. Yeswaht. Singh and Deonarayan were sentenced to death and Dalapat to transportation for life for the murder of Lieutenant Hext and the attempted murder of Captain M. G. Sheehan. Yeswaht Singh, Deonarayan, and Dalapat were charged with the murder of Lieutenant Hext and the attempted murder of Captain Sheehanon a Punjab mail train on the night of July 22. The two officers, who were travelling to Poona were attaclced and stabbed during the night. Lieutenant Hext was seriously wounded while he was asleep and died later from his injuries. Captain Sheehan was severely wounded. -■Captain Sheehan stated he was awakened by the barking of a dog which was in the same compartment. He saw two men, armed with daggers, who killed the dog, and then attacked Lieutenant Hext and himself. Then they jumped from the train and disappeared in the jungle.
