SYDNEY, Monday. A middle-aged unidentified woman, whose head was terribly battered and one ear severed, was found in the basement of a city residential chambers. Her small terrier dog was also dead with his head smashed in. The police express the opinion that the woman was murdered in a fiendish manner, probably while asleep, during last night.
