COMMUNAL GARDEN
SCHEME TO HELP UNEMPLOYED WORKERS IN ROTORUA INITIATED SEEDS AND PLANTS NEEDED A start was made last week with the preparation of ground at the borough depot in Amohau Street for the communal garden which is to be established under the supervision of the Rotorua Unemployment and Relief Committee for the purpose of providing vegetables for the families of local men employed under the Unemployment Board's No. 5 Scheme and other families in the town in need of assistance. Mr A. G. Thompson, of King Street, has generously undertaken to supervise the work in the garden and to guide those men who, though willing enough, have little or no experience of the work. Tho Town Clerk, Mr W. A. MeLean, who is secretary of the committee advises the "Post" that vegetable seeds such as potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, parsnips, beans, peas, etc., and young cahbage and onion plants are needed and gifts of these will be gratefully reeeived by the committee if left at the borough offices.
