Managh SOME FAST lyJNS Despite the boisterous weather which prevailed on Wednesday afternoon over twenty followers assembled for the Rotorua Hunt Association's meet at Springfield Farm. Hounds were cast off on Springfield and drawing a heavy manuka, owned to a scent very quickly, working the hare out of cover and heading it towards the Utuhina Stream. Here the hare doubled back, taking to cover again with hounds close up. Hounds worked very keenly through dense cover, running the hare into the open again where it ran a straight line through Springfield across Mr Gunson's property into the Borough motor camp. Finding hounds getting too close for its comfort, puss then took a new line, crossing Devon Street into Mr. Parrish's property and then across the Old Taupo Road into Mr. Boord's and then back into cover on Springfield. For a time hounds were at fault, but picking up the line again, ran their hare towards Tihiotonga Road, where it squatted in a clump of gorse. Again hounds dislodged it and with pack in full cry the hare was viewed away going very fast across Springfield into Mr Webster's property, maliing a line towards the hills. At "Horahora Road puss again doubled on its line and hounds checked before picking up the return line which again ran into cover on Springfield, where scent was finally lost. Another scent was raised on Springfield which gave the best run of the day. This was a strong fmnning hare who took the field through Springfield into Mr Moody's farm where it turned again, heading for cover on Springfield. Hounds, howover, were close up and kept the hare in the open, giving it no chance to- take cover. Through Springfield puss went at a great pace into Mr Robertson's and then right through Mr Jackson's farm into the hills at the back, where the scent was eventually lost on sheep country after a fast run of two miles. Leaving the hills, the riders returned through Messrs Jackson's Buekthought's, Knox's, and H. P. Ford's properties to Mr Hardcastle's where an excellent afternoon tea was provided. Among the followers were Mesdames Jackson, Humphries and Duffill, Misses B. Bertram, Smith, Hinton and Millett and Messrs Jackson, Giesen, Managh, Philson, Russell, Hazlett, Rika, Greenhead, Martin, McConnell and Master Allison.
