MISSIONARY'S HANDS CHEWED OFF BY LION DIES FROM INJURIES

— Copyright.

By Telephone —

CAPE TOWN, Friday. An American missionary, the Rev. Taylor, met a terrible end near Livingstone. When going out to shoot a lion caught in a trap, the lion broke loose and Mr Taylor missed with three shots. The lion then attacked Mr Taylor who fought gallantly, thrusting his hands down the animal's throat but they were chewed off by the beast which sat beside its victim for half an hour and then ambled off. Mr Taylor died from loss of blood after giving a full account of" the fight.
