RIFLE SHOOTING

Teams from the Rotorua Returned | Soldiers' Association and staff of the R.M.T. Garage met on the miniature rifle range in the drill hall on Tuesday evening to fire a friendly rifle match. The teams consisted of five men a-side. Following are the scores: Returned Soldiers' Association: — Bates, 87, 87, 174; Aubertin, 74, 69. 143; Alexander, 88, 32, 120; Brownlie, 70, 72, 142; Weir, 87, 84, 171; total, 750; average per rifle, 150. R.M.T. Co.— Powell, F., 60, 61, 121; Gleeson, A., 79, 74, 153; Garliek, R., 54, 34, 88; Hollis, W„ 88, 61, 149; Talbot, J., 27, 63, 90; total 601; average per rifle, 120.

At the conclusion of the match the Returned Soldiers' Association fired a practice, the following being the scores: — Reid, 78, 73, 151; Aubertin, 64, 62, 126; Gillett, 78, 54, 132; Brownlie, 80, 15, 95; Bates, 87, 81, 168;' Walker, 89, 85, 174; Clarke, 84, 83, 167; Mason, 67, 45, 112; Alexander, 77, 84, 161; ICnight, 74, 58, 132; Weir, 87, 84, 171. New rifles were used for the first time on Tuesday and members are looking forward to improving their scores when they become familiar with them. The following matches have been arranged: — September 22: R.S.A. tropliy night; September 29: R.S.A. "A" v. Arawa No. 1 ; R.S.A. "B" v. Arawa No. 2; October 6: R.S.A. v. R.M.T.; also a practice shoot.
