ECONOMY INQUIRY INTER-PARTY COMMITTEE REPORTED UNABLE TO AGREE NO COMMON POLICY •
WELLINGTON, Thursday. Signs are painfully evident that the Inter-Party Economy Committee is fast approaching a sad end. It is common knowledge that points of agreement are practically nil and that the only sequel will most probably he a series of recriminations. The Government's main proposal has been the establishment of a National Government with a consequent postponement of the elections, but this was not acceptable to the other parties. This morning the committee had only a short sitting and it is significant that a Reform Party caucus followed and was still sitting to-night. It is likely that the committee will soon announce its inahility to formulate a policy for the alleviation of the country's difficulties and the whole responsibility will then be thrown on the Government either to carry on or to go to the country.
