The water was turned on yesterday. It took 2400 feet of piping to complete the work and there are eight fire plugs spaced at intervals along the two roads. Visit of Riigby League Teani The Rotorua .fourist Office received advice yesterday that a teain of 20 Australian Rugby ' League footr ballers will arrive in New Zealand early next month. A more coinprehensive itinerary has beeh arrah^ed for them than is usual -for football teams.' The team Will visit Rotorua on October 11 and will spend ' f our days in the towh, thus giving them a better opportunity to see tjie tberfhal sights than did the Waljahies, who were here last week-end and only spent one night in Rotorua. New Telephone Exchange Exeellent progress is being made with the installation of the ' new branching multiple telephone switchboard at preseht being in'stalled in the* Rotorua telephone exchange. It is expeeted that the staff of engineers engaged will soon have to be increased and the hope .was expressed yesterday, by the telegraph supervisor, Mr. H. C. Smith, ' that the new system would be in opera'tioh at the commencement of the coming tourist s'easori. Business IMot Affected Despite the fact that New Zealand, including Rotorua, is at , present s'uffering from the wor'ld-wide ecohomic depression, there has not been any falling off in the business done through the Rotorua telephone exchange, stated Mr. H. C. Smith, telegraphic supervisor, to a "Post" r'epresentative yesterday. Demands for the installation of new telephones are being reCeived at 'the usual rate. Daffodil "At Home." The St. Luke's Daffodil "At Home" concluded last evening with a short but delightful entertainment and an auction of the flowers, sweets and mis cellaneous articles displayed. Recitations were given by Miss A. Hitchon, Miss G. Mont'gomery gave a short dancing item, and, led by Miss R. Owens, the Spanish Ballet, which was such a success in the 'St. Luke's Girls' Club Concert, was again staged. ' •' * Owing to the illness of Mr W. jCavanagh and Mr R.
