MYSTERIOUS DEATH

VAGRANT FOUND DEAD AUCKLAND, Tuesday. In response to a telephone message from an unknown womam at ten o'clock this morning the police forced their way into an elnpty house in St. Paul Street, and discovered the dead body of Daniel Keane, aged 51 years, with a black eye and a bruise over the ear. It is believed Keane had been living alone in the house, and had used a room upstairs to sleep in. A puzzling feature is that apparently blood on the floor close to the body had been wiped up. The doors of the house were locked from the inside. A post-mortem was ordered.
