BRITANNIA BANK

powerful london group denies promised backing ALLEGED PROCRASTINATION Aecording to authoritative information given to the Australian Press a disclaimer by a powerful London financial group, discloses that there is absolutely no foundation for the recent report that the Britannia Bank recently floated in Australia, is supported by 75 per cent British capital. It is stated that negotiations took place with regard to the rehabilitation of the N.S.W. Savings Bank, but it is denied that any support for the Britannia venture is forthcoming from London. When it was announced from Sydney, that the Britannia Bank, with a reported c^apital of £100,000,000 had 75 per cent. British backing, London banking circles professed themselves mystified. This latest disclaimer is now made in order that the financial group involved may disassociate themselves from the methods pursued by the promoters of the bank.
