ON THE BALL

Free Kick).

f RUGBY NOTES

(By

The main attraction at Arawa Park on Saturday will be the match between the Rotorua B reps and the Frankton seniors. This game will probably result to the visitors' advantage. As a club tbey should have the necessary combination. If the Rotorua representatives had played the game at Te Puke the previous week that they played against Putaruru last Saturday, the score would have been much in their favour. Uertainly Saturday's team was slightly altered, but some of the changes were of little help to the side. W. Davis was weak at full-back last Saturday, his bad handling and dodging about often got his side into danger. On Saturday's play his inclusion against Frankton is not merited and Sullivan (Waiariki) would be more able to fill the position. Taiapa on Saturday again demonstrated his willingness to be an extra back and at times he would have made a good substitute for a spare line umpire. Scott and Allen were an honest pair of grafters in the match against Putaruru, and on their game are as good as any forwards in the district. B. Kukume played one of his best games this season against Putaruru, and his try was a fine effort combined with tricky play. M. Morrison was sound on the wing last Saturday and his reputation for speed was fully demonstrated. Although inclined to over-run passes his main fault was his failure to run straight. It is interesting to note that W. Macindoe, who last year played for the Takapuna Grammar School against Rotorua High School, when the draw was registered, is now play- ! ing first five-eighths in the Auckland senior representative team going Straight from school into senior grade. The ofiicials of the Rugby Union have decided to take a firm stand.in putting a stop to persistent annoyance of both spectators and players. Their decision is long over due and the action of the management committee in giving two such offenders the "keep off" notice will meet with the approval of all interested in the welfare of the game.
