RELATIVES' FORTITUDE
THE CHATEAU, Tuesday. The relatives of the missing students are showing great fortitude and optimism. Intervewed to-day, Mrs P. C. Brockett, mother of Miss Esme Brockett, said she was confident that her daughter will come through safely- Mrs Brockett and her husband were themselves lost for seven days in the Tararua Range' once and came through the ordeal safely- Their daughter, who has been a Girl Guide and possesses the Guide's Order of Merit, is well versed -in forest craft and tracking and heF^mother is certain that as long as shcpfbmains conscious she will be able'ipjteep the spirits of the other girls-vipl.. and bring them through. Sl^ijs trained to make a shelter and #&ait assistance. Mr Brockett and his wife are experienced mountaineers. Mr J. Stanton whose son, Mr. W. Stanton, is also missing, is here and is cheerful. An uncle, Mr G. A. Stanton went out to help in the search with Mr J. Corlett's party last night. The organisation is now excellent and about 250 men are scouring the bush between The Chateau and Hauhaungatahi- Plenty of other men are available to go out as needed- " i
