Through their influence he is taken back to America where he is given a position in a chewing gum factory.... The job is a very minor and menial one, but the indomitable Maurice stick to his ardiious tasks and by dint of amhition and inventive genius climbs the ladder of success until he becomes "the whole works" in the factory. Of course, there is a heavy romance — .with Claudette Colbert furnishing the feminine half of it. She is a French-born actress who has made rapid success on the Broadway stage. She was featured recently with Walter Huston in "The Lady Lies." In "The Big Pond," Chevalier sings a number of songs in a manner that is delightfully Chevalier-erque.
