ROTORUA WINS

WANGANUI BEATEN AUCKLAND, Monday. Rotorua defeated Wanganui in the "B5' Section of the ladies' hockey tournament to-day by one goal to nil. Rotorua showed better combination although the tackling was still weak. The game was fairly even. In the first half, the full backs, E. Mitchell and L. Tanner were defend- j ing well. The right half, T. Morrison, standing too far back, let Wanganui "away on several occasions, but the other halves, J. Chaytor and T. Mitchell were playing well. The first named was outstanding-

The forwards -were slightly improved, M. Black making openings, although an occasional offside spoiled chances. The second spell was faster, Rotorua getting most of the' play and was unlucky several times, in not scoring. M. Black and M. Mitchell on the left wing, were caught offside in good scoring positions. Rotorua was attacking strongly at the finish biit could not inerease the score.
