HIME TEAM DOES WELL IN FIRST GAME OF HOCKEY TOURNEY. ROTORUA AND RUAHINE.

AUCKLAND, Saturday. Tbe firct mat/rh in the ladies hoclcey tourney, Rotorua v. Ruahine, was drawn two-all after a good game. - For the greater part of the game, Ruahine' o fast forwards were continuolly worrying the defence hut E. Mitcheil save-x wdl. The other Rotorua full hack, L. Tanner was not playing' her usual game J Tanner, the Rotorua goalkeeper, made numerous spectacular saves. The forwards cn tbe day were a trifle slow with the exception of G. Rogers and M. Ratema on the right wing. The fir t-named player played an inspirecf game hut was not supported. T. Mitchell and M. Ratema scored great goals, the first as a result of a scramble following a corner. Bad tackling hy the halves let the Ruahine forwards tbrough. Mrs Karaitama scored both goals for Ruahine. Detailed Results. Results in the "A" section were: — Eastern Southland heat "Wairarapa 14.0; Auckland Country heat Akitio 2-1 ; Auckland drew with Manawatu 1-all. > "B" Section results were : — .
