FOR THE KITCHEN

AFTERNOON TEA LOAVES. These may be made with wholemeal or white flour. Ingredients: Half a pound of flour, a pinch of salt, a heaped-up teaspoonful of baking powder, a little milk. Sift the flour free from lumps, put into a bowl with the salt and baking powder, mix these dry ingredients thoroughly," then add just suffieient milk to form a dough. Be careful not to add too much milk, as, if the dough is sticky, the loaves will be heavy. Turn it on to a floured board and as quickly as possible form it into little cottage loaves. Put them on to a greased baking tin and bake immediately in a hot oven. They will take fifteen .minutes. Just before they are done brush them over with a little milk.
