RESULTS YESTERDAY.
PLAY IN QUALIFYIMG ROUND FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP The qualifying rounds for the Rotorua Golf Clubs' Amateur Open ChampUnship Cup Tournament were played on the Rotorua course yesterday in warm but showery weather. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition although a little biavy, and some exceilent scores were returned by several of the contestants.
A. W. N-coll, uf Cambridge, with a handicap of 12, returned in the first round Wxth a nett score of 61, and had his strokes reduced to six. Others to have their handicaps cut after the first roupd are E. H Hill, of Rotorua, from 12 to 10, and G. Tallis, of Auckland, from seven to five. .W. Abbott, of Auckland, in his afternoon round, did the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th hoies all in threes, which is very credi table, especially in tbe case ofl the 16th, which is long and difficult. Others who did birdies at various of the longer and more hazardous holes are M. D Carr, Arden Bott, I Powdrelly Hape,' C. J. Jonhson, C. Britton and Brinsden. There are several players who returned w'thr neti scores under bogey and in most cases their handicaps have been adjusted.
