An inquest concerning the death of Daniel Sylvester Maloney, who attaclced Miss Ivy Charlotte _ Robmson, .on Monday night, slashing her throat with a razor, and then cutting his own throat, was held here this afternoon. A verdict that Maloney committed suicide by cutting his throat with a razor on the night of August 24 was returned. Evidence was given. by the police that Ivy .Charlotte Robinson complained in July that she was terrified of Maloney, with whom she had lived for three years at Morrinsville, Rairimu and Waimea. Maloney was warned to keep away from her. The injured woman gave evidence that Maloney was jealous. She had a chilcl by him, and after the. police warned him Maloney behaved better. * He came to her 'house on Monday n:ght. In the course of an argument during which he insisted that she return to him he tried to cut her throat with a pair of scissors. With her mother's help she got free and rushed out of the house. The mother gave evidence that hearing a noise in the kitchen she went out of the bedroom and helped her daughter to get away from Maloney, wbo then cut his throat with a razor. before her eyes. She wrenched the razor from him, and then fainted. Maloney was 37 years of age.
