Despite Mr Lansing’s efforts to maintain secrecy, it now appears that a German or Austrian submarine fired ten times at the American steamer Oswego, in the Mediterranean, the many Americans aboard narrowly escaping, B Mr Lansing sent a secret Note to Berlin, which replies that it knows nothing of any such attacks. It is not believed that further action will be tasen.
BRIZES FOR DESTRUCTION. Reuter. London, August 22. The Prize Court has awarded £1(505 to the crews of the Alcantara and Andes for destroying the raider Graif; £llO to 819 for sinking the light cruiser Nordina in the Baltic, and £12,160 to the warship which sank the Scharnhorst, Gneisenan and Nurnberg at the Faiklauds Battle.
