HUNTERVILLE TOWN BOARD.

An ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on Monday night, there being present Crs Taylor (chairman) M’Alley, Berry, Street and Dukeson.. CORRESPONDENCE.

From J. Hurley, granting permission to enter upon his land for drainage purposes. From District Engineer re supply of metal.—On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Or Street, it was left to the Works Committee to deal with —There were at present only 18 yards of gravel available, but the County Engineer would further accommodate the Board with 50 yards. From Recruiting Board, circulars explaining the requirements of the Military Service Act, and asking the co-operation of the Board.—Or Street moved that the letter be acknowledged and the Recruiting Board informed that the Board will do all in its power to assist.—Or Dukeson thought it was a matter for the Patriotic Society to deal with.—Cr Berry asked if it was proposed to send up lantern slides.— The ehariman said what the Board could do was to see that all were enrolled who ought to be enrolled. He seconded the motion, \FRich was carried.

The list of accounts presented were passed for payment. FOREMAN’S REPORT.

The Foreman’s Report was 'read and adopted. Or Street said, with regard to Hurley’s slip, that the drain required to be straightened and lowered 3ft or 4ft.— Or McAlley said the drain required to he as wide again. —Referred to Works Committee.

. The culverts required on the Te Maire Road were authorised to he done, on the usual terms. Cr Berry said there was r.d mention in the report of the Domain drain. It was time the Board did something to improve the drainage of the main street, and he considered that the Board would be liable for damage caused through defective drainage.—The chairman advised the Board to leave the matter to the Works Committee.—This course was adopted. Several minor matters of routine were dealt with.

The resignation of the Foreman was accepted.—The Foreman stated withdrawal of his resignation wonld depend on an increase of salary. Cr Street moved that applications be invited, by advertisement, for position of Foreman. Cr Dukesonsecnnded.—Carried.

Cr Dukeson moved, that timber be obtained for High Street footbridge ont of the loan money in hand, and that the work be proceeded with by the Board’s employees, Or Street seconded. Carried.
