HUNTERVILLE BOWLING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above was held on Thursday nigut in the B.N. Z. Rooms. The following members were present; Messrs F. Berry (president), Me Alley, Johnston, Low, A. Howie, D. Chisholm, Earle, Jas. Wilson, Alf. Wilson, D. Morrison, Jas. Howie, S. Mair, Win. Wilson, A. Campbell, Jno, Wilson, Mercer, Martin, W. Howie and Jas. Chisholm (secretary). The following new members were elected:—Mesrs S. Mills, W. Anderson, A. Reid, P. Peacock, D. Gibsou and A. Woolley. Mr J. Chisholm submitted the bal-ance-sheet as follows;—Receipts— Subscriptions, 37 members, £6B 8s; Special fund new mower £lO 8s; special fund entertaining visitors, £4 ss; sale old mower os; balance at date, £146 Bs. Total £329 14s. Expenditure: Wages groundkeeper, £4O; new mower for green, £lO 4s 4d; new mower for banks, £2 13s; rates, £3 17s 9d ; interest £lO 10s; entertaiuingjvisitors, £3 13 (id; sub. to centre, £1; bank charges and interest, £lO 5s 6d ; sundry small accounts, £3l 0a 3d ; balance from last year, £14(5 0s Sd. Total, £229 14s.
The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, said that the meeting was the eighth annual meeting. He referred briefly to the war, and stated that two of their members bad gone to the front—Messrs J. Reid aud F. Leitch. The singles competitions had not been completed last year, and a decision had to be come to regarding them. The doubles were won by Messrs Reid and Carruthers. The chairman thought the Ferns were worthy of mor£ enthusiasm, and more rink play should be organised. He hoped that more club visits would be made this year to and from adjoining clubs. The members’ thanks were due to the ladies for providing refreshments at their matches. They were also indebted to their secretary, Mr J. Chisholm, for his assistance. One of the players was also speciallyworthy of thanks for help given-r-Mr Frank Petherick. He moved n motion to this effect, which was carried unanimously. The following officers were appointed: Hon. Patron, Colonel Meldrum; President, Mr W. Howie; Vice-presidents, Messrs McAHey, Berry, Jno. Wilson, D. Chisholm, H. Mercer, Jas. Wilson, Jas. Howie, T. Low, Alf. Wilson. Match Committee: Messrs Me Alley, Mercer, Jno. Wilson, Auditor, Mr L J Thompson. Secretary, Mr J. Chisholm. Green Committee: Messrs R. McAHey, H Martin, F Berry and Ironmonger Messrs F. Petherick and D. Chisholm offered, in view of the difficulty of securing competent labour, to undertake the caretaking of the green.—The offer was accepted. In regard to last season’s unfinished singles’ competitions, it was resolved that medals he presented to players with the highest average, in case oi a tie amongst three players, the same to be played off. Mr Morrison moved that it he a recommendation to the Match Committee that skips be posted for the season for the Ferns’ matches— Mr Howie seconded. Mr A. Howie moved that all restrictions in regard to Ferns matches be removed.—Mr W. Wilson seconded. The amendaut was carried.
