THE ASHHUEST MEETING
At a meeting of the stewards Of tbe Ashhnrst-Pohangina Racing Club, held on Saturday, it was decided to give £875 in stakes for its meeting to be held on November 22nd, this being an increase of £285 on last year. The allotment was as follows: —Hack Hurdles, lOOsovs, I}4 miles; Pohangina Handicap, ISOsovs, 6 furlongs; Plying Handicap, SOsovs, 5 furlongs; Ashhurst Cup, 225sovs (25sovs in silver plate presented by Mr T. Nicoi, and SOOsovs. added), I>4 miles; Komako Hack Welter, SOsovs, 7 furlongs; Maiden Stakes, TOsovs, 5 furlongs; Raumai Welter, llOsovs, 7 furlongs; Gorge Hack, SOsovs, 6 furlongs. The following officials were appointed : —Judge, Mr W. H, Hartgill; handicapper, Mr J. E. Henrys; starter, MrT. Cameron; timekeeper, Mr W. J. Phillips; totalisator steward, Jlr R._ MacDonald; clerk of scales, Mr T. Grammer; clerk of course, Mr H. Hart; veterinary surgeon, "Mr F, T, Panvers,
