FOOTBALL.
The return match between Marten and Bulls, played at Marton on Saturday, resulted in a win for Marton by 6 points to 3. The weather was boisterous and the ground sloppy, but there was some flashes of smart passing hy tbe backs of both teams. The first spell ended with both sides 3 ail—Henderson kicking a penalty for Marton, and Gifford kicking a penalty tor Bulls. The second spell was fairly even, both teams being within an ace of scoring on several occasions. From a scrum near Balls’ line Smith secured and scored by the posts, the kick at goal being disallowed. Although Bulls tried hard to even up the scores they found the local hacks’ defence too solid and no further score resulted. Mr S. Hunt made an efficient referee.
