RAILWAY CROSSINS FATALITY.
INQUIRY ADJOURNED. An inquiry was commenced at iho Marton Courthouse this morning into the circumstances connected with the death of Mrs Fanny Thompson McLean, who was killed through a motor car colliding with a goods train at Pnkepapa Road crossing on Friday, August 18th. Mr J. J. McDonald (coroner) presided and the' following jury were empannelled: Messrs F, Spencer (foreman), A. E. Awdry, H. Sutcliffe, W. J. Rees, S. J. Davenport, and W. McKenzie. Mr Gifford Marshall (Crown Prosecutor) appeared on behalf of the Railway Department. Lachlan T. McLean gave evidence ■as to identification of the deceased lady. The Coroner stated that he had received a communication from Dr Watson, who was attending Douglas McLean (the driver of the motor car at the time of the accident), stating that he was not sufficiently recovered to attend the inquiry, and that he thought he would be able to attend next Monday. The inquiry was then adjourned to 10 o’clock on Monday, August 38th.
