ALLEN DOONE. TO-MORROW NIGHT. The inimitable Allen Doone and his favourite Company headed by the charming actress, Miss Edna Keeley, are billed to make their appearance in the Marten Town Hall to-morrow night. There is no greater favourite in Australasia than the young Irish actor, Allen Doone. He has a charming personality which wins its way into the hearts of his patrons, his rendering of the sweat Irish songs puts his hearers in the best of hmuonrs, and they all go home singing. Since his last visit to New Zealand, Mr Doone. has played to wonderful business all over Australasia, and we have no hesitation in saying that the talented and popular young Irish actor and his Company will be accorded a great reception on his appearance in Marton to-morrow night. Tiie piece selected for the opening is a very dainty piece, the title of which is “Molly Bawn. ” We would strongly recommend our readars who have not witnessed any of Mr Doone’s productions to avail the opportunity afford them this season. The plan is now on view at Mogridge’a.
NEW PICTURE PLAYS. A WORD ABOUT TRIANGLES! The Triangle Film Company is the combination of G. W. Griffiths, producer of the biggest picture the world has seen “The Birth Of A Nation,” Thomas Ince, and Mack .Lennett, the orginator of all Keystone comedies. These three great brains, always leaders in the past separate spheres, have conceived the idea of perfect comedies and dramas, pictures that aro altogether different from what we have been used to, and are staged on a scale of magnitude unkuown fifteen months ago. The first of the “Triangle” pictures to arrive is the 4000 ft. feature comedy of Chaplin in “The Snh marine Pirate,” one of those wild, whirling comedies which gladden us. The United States Government kindly placed their latest submarine at the disposal of Mr Lennett, and although a submarine is not particularly funny, it is so when the commander happens to be Chaplin. When you see this at Bulls on Tuesday, August 22nd, you will be convinced that it is the greatest laughraiser ever made. The effect on one is surprising—you breathe heavily, joy tears roll down your cheeks, your lungs work overtime, yon babble and howl, and—yes, its “Some Comedy.” Supporting this “Triangle” attraction are five other pictures of scenic, dramatic and topical subjects. There is the latest star film of the movements of the British troops in the Balkans.
