A BOOM IN CERTIFICATES AT HASTINGS. Per Press Association. * Hastings, August 21, £4OOO worth of war certificates were sold by the Post Office staff at an open-air demonstration at the railway crossing on Saturday night. At a meeting at the theatre on Friday night £1175 was invested and the business on Saturday at the Post Office was'so brisk that the staff had to replenish its stock of certificates from Napier. Telegrams were received from Sir Joseph Ward congratulating the people ot Hastings on their liberal manner in subscribing. A Feilding telegram states that the Romney Marsh Sfaeepbreeders’ and Hereford Cattlebreeders’ Associations are investing the, whole of their surplus funds in the war loan.
