PRISONERS AT THE SOMME.
INCLUDE NAVAL MENAS A NAVAL BRIGADE. London, Aug. 18. The Morning Post says the prisoners taken during the Somme fighting include some naval men who participated in the Jutland fight. After the battle they were hurried westwards as a naval brigade. RAID ON ST. QUENTIN. TERRIBLE DESTRUCTION CAUSED BOMBS START AN AWFUL BLAST. ' Paris, Aug. 18. A German prisoner gives details of a British aeroplane raid on St. Quentin at the end of July. While two battalions were awaiting entertainment, aviators’ bombs fell on an ammunition shed. A terrible explosion followed. Sixty waggons lying attestation were ignited and also exploded, destroying the soldiers’ train. The battalions became panic stricken and fled, 180 being killed and wounded. NOTED SCULLER KILLED. Rome, Aug. 17. Lieutenant Sinigaglia, the last, winner of the Diamond Sculls, has been killed on the Carso.
