A FORWARD MOVE. IN LINE WITH THE FRENCH.
HOSTILE TRENCH CAPTURED. Australian and N. Z. Cable Association. Received Aug. 18, 10.30 a.m. Loudon, Aug. 17. Sir Douglas Haig rsports that yesterday evening, in conjunction with the French advance ouJMaurepas, wo forwarded our line west and southwesr of Guillemont. West of High Wood we captured three hundred yards of hostile trench. CANADIAN WHEAT CROP. SPORT OF AMERICAN SPECULATORS. Received Ang. 18, 10 a.m. New York, Aug. IG. There is indignation in Winnipeg regarding American .reports of damaged Manitoba wheat crop,-which is confined to the South. The yield for the pi’ovince is little below the average and Saskatchewan and Alberta are able to complement it.
