GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. BECOND'DAY. Per Press Association. ' Sockburn, August 17. The Grand National Meeting was continued in fine weather. There is a fair attendance and the going has improved. Results Woolston Plate, six furlongs.— Pyjama 1» Caraid Dileas 2, Treadtire 3, Alsu ran: Trcveua, Counterpoint and Don Frisco. Won by a nose. Time, Imin 19aec Hunt Club (Jap, 2>£ miles.—Tradition 1. Mawson, 2. Tairiki 8., Scratched; Ikowai, Kings way and Cron Park. Tradition -onj:atayed Mawson and won by half a length. Otupai and Waiparapara also finished. Time, smiu Ibsec Sumner Handicap, one mile.— King Star 1, Achillens 2, Fiery Cross 3. Scratched: Maid o’ Gowrie. King Star was in front when the straight was reached and woo comfortably. Time, Imin 47 3-ssec, August Handicap, six furlongs,— Seadowu I, Oxeufiope 2, Cherry Blossom- 3, All started. Cherry Blossom and Derby Day were leading when the straight was reached, but Seadowu came at tue distance and won by two lengths. Time, Imin 18 2-ssec.
