HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Per-Press Association, Wellington, August 14. The High Commissioner’s market report, dated London, 12th, is as follows: Meat.—Market quiet and steady; N.Z, mutton and lamb in small supply with the result that there is a better demand for Argentine mutton and lamb; prices remain unchanged with the exception of Argentine beef and N.Z. beef ; N. Z. mutton B%d, ewe mutton Argentine mutton N.Z. [Jamb Argentine lid, N.Z. bull beef, hinds 5%d, fores 4%d ; Argentine chilled beef, hinds 10>£d, fores 7^d. Butter—Market closed firm at advance. Danish salted 194 sto 1965, Irish Creamery salted 170 s to 1725, nnsalted 172 s to 1745, Canadian salted 170 s to 1725, N.Z. salted 174 sto 178s v good to line quality 164 sto 170 s, Argentine nnsalted 172 s to 1745. Cheese—Market continues firm, Canadian white 94s to 965, coloured 94s to 95a, English Cheddar 106 sto 108 s, N.Z. white 97s to 98s, coloured 94s to 955.

Hemp—Manila market fluctuated very much and closed lower. N.Z. market quieter. Dominion offering very small. Government graded fair Manila hemp £sl Is, good tair New Zealand £49, fair £46105, quotations nominal; August-October shipment Government graded coarse Manila £46 10s, good fair N.Z. £4B 10s, fair £46 The output of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday was 2,000 bales. The stocks of New Zealand hemp on hand on Ist.lnly were 455 tons. ,

Wheat—Market. firm, prices continue to advance, milling demand better; sellers offer sparingly; American August-Sept. 675; No. 1 Manitoba Northern afloat sold at 68s, Australian afloat 675. Oats.—Market quiet and firm at last quotations. English new crop beginning to offer. Cocksfoot—Market quiet; good Danish quoted at 725. Wool—Market quiet; merino quotations lower; crossbreds nominally unchanged.
