A rich gold, discovery has been made at Long Plains on the West Coast. An extensive reef has been traced, estimated to contain over half a million tons of quartz. A sample assay averaged six ounces 14 pennyweight of gold and ten ounces of silver to the ton. Years ago a rich alluvial deposit was found in the vicinity. Since much money has been spent in prospecting for the reef.
