RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES

Per Press Association. Christchurch, Aug. 9. The Riccarton traces dried with the wind and were in fair order this morning. Work was mostly confined to easy pacing. Kingforra badly beat Rorke’s Drift over five furlongs. Oratonu and' Kingsway jumped fences. Oratonu gave a good showing to the last obstacle, where he fell. Idealism and Queen’s Post went a round and a half over the fences and gave a good exhibition. Art and Kilmeny jumped five hurdles well, Kooyn is lame through falling in the paddock yesterday, which may mean a few days spell. Marconi overreached himself and cut his foot while schooling yesterday, but it is not serious. A large number of horses arrived North feo-day.
