A ballooning accident occurred at St. Petersburg. When at an altitiide of nearly a mile the military balloon, "The Vannovsky," ripped owing to the accidental pulling of the emergency valve. The four occupants of the car fell with frightful velocity. Politzan, the Court Chamberlain, was killed and his wife fatally injured. “The Vannovsky,” in„ a former accident, caused the death of four officials.
