Mr Boston, who represents the Commonwealth at the Defence Conference, says he is in favour of a vigorous policy of naval and military defence of Australia, The naval side is, at present, importance, as every Australian aspires to sea his country make a beginning in the construction of a local navy. In time it may boast of a navy, but for many years must be dependent on the British navy. He would not reduce, but rather increase, the present subsidy. These were, however, his personal views, and ha had yet to discuss with his colleagues the policy to he placed before the Conference.
