THE PRESS CONFERENCE.
Per Press Association. Wellington, June 8. In response to an invitation from the editor of the London _ Standard and London Chronicle, Sir Joseph Ward sent congratulatory cablegrams regarding the opening of the Press Conference. He stated that New Zealand recognised the* immense importance of a conference which would make powerfully for a better understanding-and for the mutual interest of the Motherland and her oversea Dominions by helping to establish in improved and permanent basis for true Imperialism. The opening of the Conference was anotner portentons mark of the ever increasing solidity of the Empire. He believed that the Conference would result in the effective cooperation of the Press thronghont all the oversea Dominions in the cause of true Imperialism and in all great movements that make to that end.
