AUSTRALIANS v. HAMPSHIRE. United Press Association. —By. Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received June 8, 8.55 a.m. London, June 7. A downpour of rain yesterday delayed the start till 3.25. The weather at the opening was dull, and tiie wicket soft. The attendance was 1000. White knocked three fours off one over of Laver’s. The second wicket went at 26. Mead starting cautiously soon developed strong driving. Llewellyn made a poor display and took 40 minutes to make 9. The third wicket was down at 62, the fourth at 78, and the fifth at 89. Evans lost his wicket in playing hack to Laver.
