With respect to the Ben Nevis Hotel, the police recommended a number of improvements, particularly to outbuildings and stables. It was reported that these have since been, carried out and Constable Fitzpatrick reported favourably. When the application lor a renewal of license for White Hart Hotl came forward it brought up a matter of sanitation in all hotels. Certain recommendations had received attention at the White Hart Hotel, but those on a larger scale had not been pressed for as it was hoped Marton .Borough Council would have gone in for a proper drainage scheme. The Chairman announced that it was of the ntmost importance in the interests of the general public, that great attention should be given to sanitary arrangements in every hotel. Through neglect la this matter a case of typhoid had broken out in one hotel on the West Coast with serious results. In Marlon the licensees had been greatly inconvenienced through a deficient water supply. The officers of the Health Department bad power to take action in sanitary matters 'and the Bench would look to them for assistance and expeot tnem to do their duty in seeing that recommendations were given effect in all cases. The Bench desired that the recommendations of the "Health Department should bo rigidly carried out by licensees and owners. If apathy was shown the matter would be seriously considered at the nest meeting of the Licensing Committee. „ The Health Officer reported there was Juo particular nuisance at the White Hart Hotel at the preseat time. There was some plumbing required inside the building and this would be done. The application waa granted.
