THE DAIRYMAN’S CARNIVAL.

Attention is again directed to the National Dairy Show of the Manawatu and West Coast A. & P. Association, Palmerston North, which is now looked upon as tbe Dairyman’s Carnival of the North Island. The date of the Show Is fixed for June 22nd, 33rd, 34th and 52th next. The prize list has fcbeen framed on very liberal terms, and embraces frnife, vegetables, farm roots, and argiouiturai seeds; in each of these divisions special points prizes arealso to be awarded, ranging in valna form £1 1s to £3 2s, besides a cashprize of £lO for collection of apples. Other sections provided for are home industries and farmer’s separator aud non-separator batter. Tbe public schools bay provides for a Nature study collection, in accordance with the Education Board syllabus, besides a class for garden produce £23 in prizes and subsidy of £3 10s to eaoh school making an exhibit, is provided. Collectors of dry grasses, weeds, and insects will also find liberal provision is made for exhibiting the same. The Poultry Show at the National Dairy Show is always catered for with a liberal prize list by the executive, the bay catered for are utility poultry breeds, and ducks, with selling classes for pairs and trios. Entries for tbe dairy factory butter and cheese classes have already closed, aud it is noteworthy to mention that whereas five years ago this Association only received 50 entries, those for the June Show are 303. The exhibits in dairy machinery this year will again be on a comprehensive scale and worthy of a visit from those interested in dairy factory work aud dairymen. All commuuications concerning tbe Show should be addressed to tbe Secretary, P. O. Bex , Palmerston .North, and entries close oa June 9tb, 1909.
