The House of Commons disonssed a liquor resolution covering forty excise duties. ,An animated discussion on the Hines of the public criticism followed. The Opposition warmly resented ■the Government’s attempts to apply the closure to the debate. The Times says the Budget is undergoing considerable modification as the result of criticism since its 'introduction. In the House of Commons, Mr Haldane, in reply to a question by Mr Ashley regarding flying the Union Jack on Empire Day, said he did not think the Empire would ha / held together by flag flying.
