The home team made a poor showing in the second innings, the Australians securing an easy victory by au innings and six runs. Laver was not fielding owing to a slight strain, a substitute taking his place. Hardstaff, in the second innings, was clean bowled by Armstrong, Payton, before scoring, gave a chance to Whitty ■at mid-off off Cotter.
The fourth wicket fell at SI, the sixth at 97, and the century was hoisted after 140 minutes’ play, Allotson batted 25 minutes, his score including two six’s. He drove Whitty over the ring to long-on, and lifted Armstrong out of the ground to square leg. With his ■ departure, the end was soon reached, the last two wickets adding only a single.
