Messrs Abiaham & Williams, Ltd., have received the following , cable from London:—The sales have opened with strong competition and large attendance ef buyers. The market is strong for all descriptions of crossbreds and prices for medium and fine are Id to l%d higher, whilst coarse crossbreds are par to 6 per cent, higher. Larbbs’ wool is in strong demand and shows an advance of from 10 to 15 per cent. Messrs Murray, Roberts & Co. have received the following wool market cablegram from London, dated 4th May ‘Sales have opened firm, with a good attendance of buyers and brisk competition. Crossbred wools have advanced 5 to 1% per cent. Crossbred medium to fine wools suitable for America show the greatest advance. Merino' has advanced 5 per cent,‘but the selection offered is not sufficient to test the market.” FROZEN MEAT. Per„ Press Association. Napier, May 6. The 0.0. & D. STOCK REPORT. Messrs Abraham & Williams, Ltd,, report:—On Thursday at Palmerston an exceptionally good yarding of all classes of stock came forward, , the cattle pens being taxed to their utmost capacity. 0 Sheep showed a decided improvement, but cattle met with a dull sale, probably owing to the very heavy yarding. We quote : —Sheep, mixed aged ewes in lamb (good) 12s lid, 4 tooth to sound mouth ewes-6s 6d to 9s 7d and 9s Bd, aged ewes ss, 2 tooth wethers 8a 6d to 10a Bd, empty ewes (poor) 4s 7d to 5s sd, good lambs 8a Id, small 5a 6d to 6s Id. Cattle, 3 and Z*4 year bullocks £4 15s to £5, and 2% *year steers £S,5a to £4, 18 month to 2 year steers £2 5s to £2 14s, mother-reared weaners 20s, fat cows £3 8s to £8 15s, forward cows £2 10s to £3, forward heifers £2 2s od. weaners 5s to 11s. The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency, ;Ltd., report for the weekOn Tnesdajr at Haumai a heavy yarding of cattle sold freely, meeting with good competition at prices in favour of the Vendors. The few sheep entered also mat with a good demand. At Palmertson on Thursday we had a small entry of sheep, which were .’ quitted at an advance on last week’s rates.
