The monthly meeting was held last evening,' when there were present: ' 'Messrs Pirapi, Dixon, Purnell,. . Cargill, Bennett, Fraser, and Guthrie, M.P. , Leave of absence was. granted to Mr Aldridge. The following resignations "were . . acceptedA. I. Siddells, assistant Queen’s Park; L. Mackellar, assistant Kakaramea. The following [appointments were confirmed :—Miss 'A.. M. Anthony, Kaukatea; Mr N. H. Murray, Kohl; Mr O. MoOonnachie, Mangaonoho; Miss I. D. Bruce, Taihape ; Miss M, Stables, Beaoonsfield. v L. P. Brewer. (Mangaeturoaj and ' A.' W. Thompson-(Taihape) applied for transfers.—Mr Thompson and Mr Small (Oha'kune) to exchange. ' Leave was granted H. Buchanan, Mangaweka, six months; M. E. < s Campion, Valley Road, extension to 31st July; A.‘, O'Connor, iTaoroa, two weeks. Correspondence was received from Kapuni Committee, protesting against curtailment of committee’s privileges. • ' v Mr A. H. Evans, Newbury, complaining of reduction of salary consequent on his transfer*. —Early promotion promised. ' . The Department wrote declining to sanction erection of [shelter shed at Owhakura,—Deparsmeht to be asked for permission to erect shelter shed out of funds; also stating that the Minister could not accede to the request for a school at Mount Stewart, and declining to accede] to request for a school at Makowhai. The Chief Engineer of .New Zealand Railways, wrote agreeing to pay at rate of £4O per acre for land taken at Rata, but declining liability for removal of school.—Offer to he declined and the matter to be left to Mr’Purnell and the Board’s solicitors to take legal action. Tararua Committee asking . for grant of £3 for fencing school gardens.—Declined. Moutoa Committee wrote, asking Board to pay half the cost of repairing windows of school and levelling ground.—Agreed to. Auroa committee requesting grant 1 towards purchase and erection of iron gate.—Estimate to be obtained. School po he painted after winter. From Montoa, requesting anal desks in place of old long desks.— Granted. Prom Ohutu, asking for grant for fencing wire.—Agreed to. Prom Awabnri Oommittse nominating Mr G. H. Lnoas to complete committee.—Confirmed. Prom Balls Committee, asking for better horse paddock accommodation owing to increased number of horses, and forwarding offer from local resident to lease paddock for ten years - at £3 per annum.—Agreed to providing Committee pay for fencing. Resolved, to supply a heater at Winiata. On the motion of Mr Cargill, it was decided that the day of meeting for the Board during the] session be Monday. It was decided to apply to the Department for a grant for shelter shed and washhouse at Hlwinui. Application to be made to Government for a grant for a 40 school at Horopito as an urgent matter. The committee’s request to change the name of sohooMromJMangawhero to Mata was agreed to. The following Oommisisoners were appointed:—Hinau, J. J. Bryce; Maungahoe, T. Cameron; Moawhango, R. T. Batley; Otairi, T. A. Duncan; Pnkeroa, W. Waters; Eataiti, W. P., Campbell; Wangaehu, E- E. Plhtuher and S.
