STAINED TAN SHOES. Stains in calf tan should bo first washed in warm, soapy water, to which has been added a little when dry, rub th* staiued part with a rag dipped in methylated spirits, then polish Jwith TAN-OL. Should the stained part be a little darker than the rest of the leather, mb well with a raw onion before applying TAN-OL. Stains on chrome tan (grained or morocco leather) should be rubbed over with methylated spirits or with a slice of lemom The acid in the lemon is p no 9* . best possible removers ot stains in soft leathers. The following public notifications ate published gratis for the information of the public interested : IT is hereby notified, in accordance with Section 41 of “ The Land Act, 1908,” and Regulations made thereunder, that a poll for the election of a member to the Wellington Crown Lands Board, to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr J. M. A’Couct, whose term of office expired on the 2lst March last, will be taken on the 81st day of May, 1909. The following candidates have been duly nominated: A’Court, John Medlyn, Sanson.
