News has been received by the steamer Australian that five sailors belonging to the barque Edmond Rostand were drowned at Teoudie Bay (New Caledonia) on April 25th through a boat capsizing. London, May 8. Dr. Marshall, Moderator of the General Assembly of Scotland, died in a railway carriage in Perthshire. Obituary : The Rev. J. M. Lang, principal of Aberdeen University. Received May 4, 9,15 a.m. Pekin, May 3. A pageant two miles long has started on a four days’ march into Kwangau to the tomb nf the Dowager Empress, where the interment will take place in the autumn. Melbourne, May 4. The Council of the University is moving in the direction of inviting the British Association to meet in Australia, probably in 1911.
