MINERALS DISCOVERED,
United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—-Copyright. Received May 4, 10 a.m. Sydney, May 4. Among the minerals brought from ;the Antarctic 'by Professor David is a small piece of stone across which ■inns an orange coloured metallic smear. That smear Professor David -explains is vanadium, and if his analysis works out as he thinks it will, he can be pretty certain that •there are deposits of radioactive substances, perhaps radium itself. Nearly all the minerals brought back by the expedition were discovered • along the coast of Victoria Land. Melbourne, May 4. Lieutenant Shackleton was welcomed by the Prime Minister and the Lord Mayor. A great audience ■attended his lecture in the Town .Hall.
